Insight for Living Ministries and the Crisis in Europe

Thousands of Ukrainians Are Receiving Help from IFLM Offices in Poland and Romania

November 2022 Update

While the war in Ukraine no longer tops the headlines each day, its disastrous consequences continue to affect millions—weary and desperate Ukrainians in and out of country, the numerous aid organizations, and those who still have beloved family and friends on the battle lines of the war. But Christ is at work through the Insight for Living Ministries regional offices in Poland and Romania to offer timely aid to those in dire situations! These teams operate through strategic partnerships with local churches and other organizations to:

  • transport Ukrainians needing to flee their beloved, war-torn country to safer lands
  • deliver life’s necessities to desperate communities in Ukraine
  • provide food, shelter, clothing, spiritual support, and additional care to displaced Ukrainians in Bucharest, Romania and Wroclaw, Poland

IFLM Poland has focused on long-term care by renting apartments to provide housing and stability for about 40 refugees—many of whom are women and children. Plus, they have prepared food and household necessities for delivery to 350 families living in Lutsk, Ukraine. They are helping meet great challenges for a large and growing Ukrainian refugee population in Wroclaw, about 300 miles west of the Ukraine border!

IFLM Romania, through its joint work with several ministries, has focused on meeting immediate needs by helping send dozens of convoys to deliver necessities across the border and bring back those who can no longer remain in Ukraine. Ben, IFLM Romania’s pastor, recently led one of these convoys himself—a 27-hour round trip! This coalition of ministries has helped deliver more than 134 tons of food into Ukraine and provide shelter to approximately 5,000 displaced Ukrainians throughout Bucharest.

Each regional office is spreading the love and strength of Christ through its countless opportunities to pray, share from the Scriptures, and come alongside these desperate souls as a comforting presence. Please pray for these ministries and even consider making a special, one-time donation at the bottom of the page to help with this urgent crisis.

Your Continued Support Is Creating Stability for Refugees

Our field pastors and their staff in Romania and Poland are rising to the challenge—which they consider a profound privilege—of helping devastated and desperate Ukrainians. Some of them are still in Ukraine while others are now refugees throughout Romania, Poland, and other European countries. In partnership with other organizations, our teams have provided thousands of individuals and hundreds of families short-term care in the form of meals, clothing, supplies, medical treatment, and biblical counseling. Some refugees have even received long-term housing. Your compassionate caring, faithful prayers, and financial support have helped make all this hands-on ministry possible. We join our voices with theirs to express our immense gratitude for you concern and support. Thank you!

Our Outreach to Ukrainians

Imagine your whole life and routine are suddenly uprooted, and you and your family have to relocate to a different country! As you know, this has happened to more than six million Ukrainians—two-thirds of whom are now in Poland.

The good news? Our Insight for Living Ministries Polska pastor, Zygmunt Karel, is leading a board of pastors and missionaries who are raising and allocating funds toward the care of these precious souls. You may have already given to that fund through our US office. If so, you’ll want to watch this video update from Zygmunt. In it, he explains how your giving is helping those with great needs, including the rental of apartments for families to give them a sense of stability. Your gifts are also helping take care of their daily needs such as food, medical treatment, and invaluable pastoral care.

Please take a minute to watch this encouraging report.
