The Other Side of Preparation

We have been focusing on our need to prepare—whether it's our meals or our plans or our minds or our hearts—the emphasis has remained on us.

Let's switch things around and look at the other side of preparation. Let's think about the Lord's preparation. Do you realize that one factor is a major reason Jesus left the earth and went back to heaven? Have you ever thought about that?

We know this is true because of what He explained to His disciples during their last supper together. Take note of what He told them.

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:1–3)

Not once but twice He mentioned that He was returning to the Father's house (heaven) to "prepare a place" for those who believe in Him. Not very much is said about this, unfortunately, so we tend to forget it or ignore it. But according to Jesus's own words, one of His top priorities after returning to heaven has to do with preparation.

Stop and think. If that represents a major part of His activity during all these centuries, it must be some kind of place He's preparing.

Indeed it is!

One of Jesus’ priorities is preparing a place for us. What a place it’ll be!
