The history of Insight for Living Canada began in 1984. A group of friends studying the Bible was struggling to find material to use, and Chuck Swindoll’s ministry tapes were suggested. After a few weeks of listening to the tapes, they discovered that Chuck’s teaching could be heard on the radio. The group decided to encourage the ministry of Insight for Living to come to Canada.
Bob Kuhn was delegated the task of contacting Insight for Living. Little did he know that this would lead to his being the first chairman of the board of Insight for Living Canada (IFLC), a role he has fulfilled ever since. IFLC was legally established in late 1984 and began with a small office in Vancouver, British Columbia, with two employees. The office has now grown to include 14 employees.
Despite the challenges of Christian ministry in Canada, IFLC has grown steadily in its goal of reaching Canadians for Christ. IFLC supporters not only cover the costs of broadcasting on more than 35 Canadian radio stations but also stand with their brothers and sisters in the United States in furthering the coordinated effort to spread God’s Word throughout the world.
Using cutting-edge technology in new and creative ways, IFLC continues to communicate the transformational message of God’s Word under the leadership of Ben Lowell. Through the Internet, e-mail, audio devotionals, Bible-teaching resources, radio broadcasts, and counselors on staff, IFLC is touching individual lives from coast-to-coast. IFLC is also investing in Insight for Living’s ministry around the world—currently in the Caribbean and the Middle East, and in the future in China.
