Dear Friends,
John Huss was the spark. Martin Luther lit the torch.
Men like Ulrich Zwingli and John Calvin fanned the
flames of the Protestant Reformation that swept across
Europe more than five hundred years ago. You may not
know all of these men, but without them you would not
know many of the freedoms we take for granted, like
reading the Bible in our own language, hearing a sermon
based solely on Scripture, and embracing the sweet message of grace after faltering in sin.
We at Insight for Living plan to retrace the steps of these great men in the summer of 2010. We’d
love to have you journey with us. Through the stone streets of Prague, the quaint hamlets of
Germany, and shimmering lake towns of Switzerland, we will rediscover undaunted courage and
unmatched commitment.
Personally, I’m excited about attending a magnificent organ concert in Bach’s town of Leipzig,
standing before the Castle Church door in Wittenberg where Luther nailed his Ninety-five Theses,
attending The Passion Play in Oberammergau that’s performed only once every ten years, and
enjoying the beauty of old-town Geneva. The preaching of God’s Word in the Gross Münster—the
church of the first great expositor, Ulrich Zwingli—will be such a delight! In addition, at key spots
during our tour, I will be teaching alongside my good friend and church historian, Dr. Mike Svigel,
a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary. We’ll also have talented Dallas Theological Seminary
professor, dramatist, and performer Reg Grant on hand to bring several Reformation figures to life
at key sites along the way. And you’ll enjoy the beautiful classical music of masters such as Bach
performed by Stonebriar Community Church’s own organist, John Dill. Like my wife Cynthia and
me, you will come to learn about the Reformation, but you will return having had a reformation
in your own life. You will renew your passion for biblical truth by meeting four men who valued
Scripture over personal safety, clung to their faith in dire circumstances, and without realizing it,
laid the foundation for churches we worship in every week.
Take time to examine this brochure very carefully. This isn’t just another tour. It’s thirteen days of
unearthing treasures buried by years of neglect. It’s time for you and me to grasp again the roots
of grace, the authority of Scripture, and the value of expository preaching. We at Insight for Living
want you to join us on this unforgettable adventure! I can’t think of a better vacation than touring
Europe while discovering some courageous heroes of our Christian heritage. Consider yourself
cordially invited.
Please call Inspiration Cruises & Tours today and reserve your spot. Don’t put this off. Space is
limited. It will be the trip of a lifetime . . . trust me, you will never be the same.
Standing strong for truth,
